Who’s Ready for the Grammy’s?
As many of us are already aware, the Grammy Awards are slowly approaching. Seeing how last year was such a phenomenally breath- taking moment for all genre’s of music, it only makes you wonder who will be taking home the award this year. So many artists held a great year like Chance the Rapper with his mixtape, The Coloring Book, and Anderson .Paak with his album, Malibu. Those guys not only caught our attention with their dope mixtapes and albums, but are both being nominated for Best New Artist. Then we have artists like Adele, Beyonce, and Drake, Justin Bieber, and Sturgill Simpson with their Album of the year nominations. Even Flume’s super ill Skin album is nominated for Best Dance/ Electronic Album. BJ the Chicago Kid, Lalah Hathaway, Terrace Martin, and Mint Condition, (who are all good friends with the GLOW family) are also being nominated for Best R&B Album. And we can’t forget about Solange, who touched all of our hearts with her iconic album, A Seat at the Table.
Unfortunately, not every artist made the grammy list, but that does not mean great content was not put out. Albums such as, Kaytranada’s 99.9%, (in which Karriem Riggins featured on), was an album full of life and good vibes, and Frank Ocean’s Blonde album, in which was lyrically brilliant, will not be featured on this year’s Grammy list but are definitely deserving.
Now Let’s Talk Karriem and Kanye
Kanye West is another artist who had a pretty great year in music with his Life of Pablo album, giving the hip hop fans a well needed piece of work. So many features helped Life of Pablo come to life but did you know GLOW365’s artist, Karriem Riggins was a featured producer as well? Yes, Karriem Riggins co- produced Kanye’s single “30 Hours”. Karriem and Kanye are no strangers to one another though, seeing how both have worked on Common’s Be album back in 2005, and past Slum Village projects. As ill as “30Hours” turned out to be, we hope to hear more collaborations with Kanye and Karriem in the near future. Here’s an instrumental of Kanye’s “30 Hours” instrumental (produced by Kanye West, Mike Dean, and Karriem Riggins).
